PROJECT OBJECTIVE

The project’s objective is to analyse, at a macro level (Rainfall Zone, State, Shire), as well as at an individual farm level, by enterprise, the carbon emissions produced by agriculture, in a single year as well as over time, in order to determine whether different farming systems produce higher or lower carbon emissions.

OUTCOMES

  • Develop simple to collect and analyse carbon emissions benchmarks, by geographical region (down to Shire level).

  • Identify those enterprises that contribute the most to carbon emissions and which are carbon neutral / absorbers.

  • Create farm level audits, against benchmarks, to identify concrete actions that growers can take in order to reduce their carbon footprint.
