PROJECT OBJECTIVE

Provide introductory precision agriculture training that will impart technology skills to growers in a ‘hands-on’ manner

OUTCOMES

  • By January 2021, assist in the collation of technical information (regionally specific where relevant) for the workshops and for a GRDC branded publication/s addressing a selection of key farm management or resource input decisions and how they can be cost effectively managed using precision agriculture (PA). This includes supporting the development of a grower needs assessment, supporting SPAA develop GRDC branded publications, identification of extension event content, identification of supporting grower case studies and other relevant activities.


  • By 31/04/2021, Alice Butler to deliver four (4) extension activities across the Western Region providing a 'hands on' introduction to growers and advisers on key farm management or resource input decisions that can be cost effectively informed and responded to using PA systems. Activities to achieve this should include but not be limited to: Consulting with potential grower and adviser participants to identify key farm management or resource input decisions that address regional needs. Cover the use of PA tools, systems and data management. Cover interpretation of PA information to guide farm management and resource input decisions. Involve local PA experts and grower champions to assist in building regional capacity and promotion of peer to peer learning. Grower recruitment and supporting communications for each activity/location
