Do you want access to the best and most up-to-date, independent information to help improve your farm business in becoming more progressive, sustainable, and profitable?

The Farmanco Pestbook is an annual publication from the Farmanco Agronomy Team, with additional input from independent agronomists from around Australia.

The Pestbook is based on over 30 years of innovative research about weed, insect, and disease control in Australia. It isn't just labels, but contains recommendations developed from Farmanco and client experience of what actually works in the paddock. Each individual recommendation gives a star efficacy rating for each pest and an indicative cost per hectare ($/ha).

The Pestbook contains treatment recommendations in different scenarios including pre-emergent and post-emergent options for cereals, pulses and oilseeds, pre-seeding knockdowns and summer-autumn weed control. It also includes recommendations to treat insects and diseases in cereals, oilseeds, and pulses.

The book also contains a variety of 'how to' guides, charts and tables that are designed to complement the treatment recommendations.

Changes in the 2025 Pestbook:

  • Recommendations have been reviewed and updated by the Agronomy Team for the 2025 season.
  • There are fewer new actives in the market this season. Victrato® seed dressing was late registrant.
  • Old fungicides like Premis® and Cogito® have been removed to make room for changes with fungicides like Systiva® in oats, and higher rates of Accolade® in-furrow.
  • Old herbicides like Eclipse® and Paragon® have gone, allowing more focus on newer products like Galaxy® and Infinity Ultra®.
  • The old insecticide Supracide® has been removed. There is more focus on the newer spring options - Exirel®, MainMan® and Versys®.
  • The Trace Element section includes examples of formulations available in this competitive market, while trying to keep things simple.
  • Unfortunately, the old herbicide tolerance tables for wheat, barley, lupin and field peas were no longer relevant and have been removed. Please discuss crop and variety tolerances with your agronomist, whose commercial knowledge is useful in the absence of trial work
  • Label updates are included in recommendations where practical, otherwise see these in the New Products and Product Updates section.

Each year Farmanco Agronomists review the Pestbook and update information. As a result of these changes, it is recommended that you do not continue to use older versions.
